  3. Chocolate Lemon says:

Seem like it’s my mistake :P I skip some small step.

After you click Render >> Bake Second Life Sculpties…. you need to click the small icon under the UV/Image Editor and you will see the sculpt texture. See screenshot here.

I’m out to bed for now, you can leave question I will respond back after wake up. Happy blending!

  4. Diogo says:

it works! i forgeted the library folder, lol my mistake.

    thanks for all

  5. roberto says:

The bake second life sculpties option doesn’t appear, how can i make it appear?

  6. Chocolate Lemon says:

Roberto, you need to install primstar script and python. Read from the first tutorial : Tutorial1 : Install Blender Sculptie Script

  7. dop Kidd says:

When I click the small icon under the UV/Image Editor to see the sculpt texture, it gives me a – totaly black – UV, named : cylindre 8×128 quadra, while the object appears normaly in the right side window.

My .obj imported and selected for this UV rendering action isn’t a 32×32 UV but as the name says a 8×128.

I don’t know what i could do to obtain a correct UV map of the object.

Also, as said on the primstar help text, i just tryed to select the object, and to File/Export/Second Life LSL, and export it, but it gives me the following error message : no root prim are selected to expot.

  8. Chocolate Lemon says:

Dop, As i understand you are import from OBJ file from some other model? I have zero experience in this situation, in my work i would do modeling in blender with .blend file or import only sculpt texture (.tga, .png) not the direct OBJ file imported.

  9. dop Kidd says:

Yes, because my target is to find a beter obj/tga “converter” or exporter than the one i use, thank you for your answer anyway. :)

  10. Ky says:

When I split my screen, I get one smaller view and one bigger view but once I choose the UV/Image editor option nothing happens. it stays the same.

    It’s pretty frustrating.

  11. Ky says:

Never mind figured it, apparently I was selecting the option on the wrong toolbar.

  12. Jen says:

I have done this and several other blender tutorials. I have the primstar scripts installed. I tried a reinstall of everything. First, if I don’t do Texture Paint as well as Vertex Paint, it gives me an error “face has no texture value”. If do Texture as well as Vertex, it goes through and bakes, but I get a solid black UV image map, not the rainbow colored one I expect.

    Please help.

  13. Tom says:

Hello.. I Installed blender today and i also downloaded python and the scritps to allow blender to bake Second life files. I am having trouble with image browser under the U/V image editor the thumbnail does not appear meaning i cannot see my sculpt map.. i need help :/ Thank you..

  14. Chocolate Lemon says:

@Jen What version of Primstar and Blender you are using? I’ve been using Blender since 2.45 but never found “face has no texture value” error before so I’m not quite sure too.

I recommended you try to bake the sculpt mesh without edit it. Let’s see if it’s work or not. (Meaning you follow the Tutorial 1 >> 2 >> 5 without doing the Tutorial 3 and 4)

@Tom Normally when you press Render >> Bake Second Life Sculpties if no error happen you should get the sculpt map immediately. Make sure you already select the object before bake it.

If problem still continue you may need to check that primstar script is working or not. Test it by save any sculpt texture from this page then try to import into Blender with command File > Import > Second Life Sculptie (.tga)

  15. Tom says:

Thank you.. I think I know what the problem is now there seems to be a script error after i click bake second life sculpts, where it sais sculpt type i click on sphere and there it comes up with a ‘Python Script error’ i have tried re – installin python and replacing the scripts needed for SL useage, but the problem still occours.. It is very strange hope you can help thank you..

  16. Chocolate Lemon says:

@Tom In my experience the “Python Script Error” is happen in two case. Incorrect script install or incorrect modeling the mesh.

To test this you may try to follow only Tutorial 2 >> 5 without edit the mesh and let’s see if you still get error or not.

If problem continue you may need to check the script. If you are working on Windows I ask you to download Blender’s ZIP version (you can extract and run program without install at all) put the Primstar 0.5.0 inside .blender/scripts and run Blender from the icon inside their ZIP folder.

  17. Secretme says:

Okay i had the exact same problem as Tom, it showed me the error and i did everything chocolate told me. But again an error.

    Now, what did work!

If you want to make sculpties for second life, i found out i needed to click the “add” button in the top menu when you begin with your sculpt.
Then choose “mesh”, then “sculpt mesh” (should be at the bottom of the menu).
A little sphere will appear (you can change the shape, doesnt have to be a sphere) on your screen.
Then this turtorial comes in. If you do these steps what is written here on this new sphere, then it lets you bake second life sculpties and even the thumbnail appears . You now have a sculpty texture :D

It seems like that step was forgotten in this turtorial, or not? I dont know why i didnt read it in here.

  18. Tom says:

Hello again thank you for the advice Chocolate lemon i tried your advice but it refused to work… I then tried Secretme’s way the the add and mesh and that worked!! Thank you for all the help :)

  19. Chocolate Lemon says:

The whole tutorial was wrote into 6 chapter. You should follow it from 1 > 2 > 3.. so on “Add the mesh” part is explain in Tutorial2.

Read all 6 tutorials from here

  20. Julie says:

I want to create a house, so the shape i want to start with is a cube. But when i add a sculpt mesh, it does not give me that option. Is it not possible to start with a cube as a sculpt mesh? Please help!!!

  21. Chocolate Lemon says:

@Julie No, you must start by add sculpt mesh then model it to anything you want without add or delete vertex.

  22. ScottA says:

I am using blender 249.2, I am not seeing the Bake Secondlife Sculpties on the render menu, I have primstar installed and i have the import>secondlife sculpties in the main menu but not the Bake Secondlife Sculpties. Instead i am seeing Render>Bake Sculpt Messes.

    Any Suggestions?

  23. Chocolate Lemon says:

@ScottA What version of primstar are you using? This is tutorial made by Primstar 0.5.0. Are you installed newer version?

  24. Kuro says:

alright, so I’m using primstar and the instructions have enabled me to do everything basically just as I wanted… but then suddenly the uv map turned into a plain black image and wouldn’t go away… so I made a new one and started testing… and it seems as soon as I hit “image>reload” in the image editor window, it had the same effect… and I can’t figure out how to fix it, though I need to if I’m going to get it to SL now that I finished it @_@

  25. Chocolate Lemon says:

@Kuro Confirm. I have the same result if i hit Image > Reload maybe it’s a bug? :(

Actually I use to have this problem in some of my work when I click Bake Second Life Sculpties all I got is pure black color. Then I just reload the old backup file and continue my work till finish without problem. I believe it happen because I did something wrong while modeling but not 100% sure.

  26. Ann says:

    I Have little problem too…
I made all of the steps shown in thir Tutorial, and the final step makes me a problem… When i klick “save as…” button nothing appears, and i can’t find saved sculptie in my computer…
Maube it is a stupid problem, but im a Blender noobie.

  27. Scott says:

Hello everyone! I encourage everyone to use the Jass version of blender scripts as they work best.

Just search Jass Blender on google.

The proper way to get a sculptie export every time is…

    A. start with a sculpt mesh by clicking space bar, add, sculpt mesh. Sphere and torus bases work best.

    B. Use the vertices in edit mode to sculpt your item, or the sculpt mode.

    C. Go to render menu when ready to export, and choose “bake second life sculpties”. If your object has holes, do not choose “fill holes” of course. Just click okay.

you should see a sculpt map appear. Save it to your desktop and upload it to sl. When it’s in sl, use a sphere or torus stitching for the sculpt and it should appear as you intended.

  28. Nadi says:

Whatever i try, i always get an uv-Map of 4×4 oO I want at least 32×32 … where can i setup that ? If i use that 4×4 file its not worth anything lol

  29. Chocolate Lemon says:

@Ann Did sculpty texture appear in your screen or not when you click Bake Second Life Sculpties? Also please notice that texture will save to .TGA as default.

@Nadi When you choose Add Sculpt Mesh it will pop up menu which you can set X face and Y face. Nomally for 32×32 size it need to set X and Y face to 8.
