Tutorial4 : Modify Sculpted Prim with Blender Edit Mode

Using Edit Mode in BlenderAfter we have shape it with sculpt mode, let’s give him some punk hair with Blender edit mode.

1. On the bar in center of your screen (below your 3d workspace) click on the Sculpt Mode and change to Edit Mode.

3D Object showing in Edit Mode2. The small point which connect together form into model is call “vertex”.

In edit mode, you are able to move all these vertices freely. When you move vertex your prim shape will change too.

This mode is very useful when you need to control some small detail on your sculpted prim. Create hard-edge or sharp edges is done with Blender Edit Mode very easy.

Unselected All Vertices in 3D Scene3. Hover your mouse over 3d workspace and press A on keyboard to deselect all vertex.

PS. In Edit Mode, pink mean unselect. Yellow vertex means you have vertex selected. (the color may be difference for each Theme.)

4.Next, click on the cube button in the menu bar below your 3d workspace. (It’s call “Occlude Background Geometry” command)

This cube icon will make your sculpted prim not look transparent and easy to work with.

Selecting some vertices on the back of 3D model5. Zoom in with wheel mouse and rotate your screen with middle mouse to view back of the sculpted prim head.

6. Press shift and right click on some vertices to select it, try to give some space between each vertex.

We will pull these vertices out and make it look like punk hair style.

Scale all selected vertices on model.7. When you ready press S (S = Scale Shortcut in Blender) on keyboard and move your mouse away from sculpted prim.

8. Left click to confirm scale command. You get the funky hair style with Blender Edit Mode!

PS. You can modify the human head as you like by right click on each vertex and press one of these key

G key – Move vertex around.
S key – Scale between vertex (must selected at least 2 vertex)

Hey! great tutorial, really! I’ve got a question more, if someone could answer me, please: how could I do to empty the sphere? I mean: I want the map will run in SL as an empty object.

Sorry but I don’t exactly understand what you mean. Are you trying to make the object invisible? That way just use transparent texture.
