Tutorial 3 : Create Image for Texture Baking

Back to work at Blender's Edit Mode.1. After finished texturing we need to setup blank image for baking texture. Click on the mode option and switch back to Edit Mode.












Select all face on sculptie.2. Move your cursor over your sculptie and press “A” to select all faces on model. Your Blender screen should look like picture on the right.











Lower your Multires level to 1.3. Blender only allow user to create new image in Multires level 1. We need to temporary lower the detail of sculpted prim.

Look at the bottom of Blender screen, make sure you’re still working in Edit Panel (Orange Circle). You must lower your Multires level by click on the small left arrow in Multires Tab.(Yellow Circle)

While in Multires level 1 your sculpted prim will look somewhat like the picture. Don’t worry about it.

(PS. For people who have apply subsurf modifier, you can skip this step since your sculptie does not use multires.)














Create image for texture baking.4. Move to do small work at Image/UV Editor. Under Image/UV Editor just click Image > New.

If you have no idea where the Image/UV Editor come from. Read how to split Blender and change to Image/UV Editor.












New Image Properties in Blender.5. Image properties popup and ask for your setting.

Just make sure you have same width and height (suggest size: 1024×1024, 512×512, 256×256) and leave other setting as it is. You don’t need to care about background color.

Hit OK to confirm new image setup.





Turn Multires level back to level 3.6. Now back to Multires Tab, click on the small right arrow (Yellow Circle) to increase Multires level back to normal (level 3).
